Greece for couples

A quiet island house, a boat for a day and a mainland finish, planned around the ferries and the wind.

Greece for two is best away from the crowds: a house above a quiet bay, a boat day to coves nobody drives to, and dinners at tavernas that do not take reservations because they do not need to. The art is in choosing the island and the month.

Tell us how many nights and whether you want one island or two. We suggest and explain the differences.

Where we go

Sifnos, Folegandros, Milos or Patmos for quiet islands with good food; Santorini or Mykonos for two or three nights if you want the famous view; the Peloponnese or Pelion for a mainland alternative with empty beaches and history. Athens for a night with a guide at either end.

How the week runs

Slow mornings, a beach or a walk, a long lunch, a boat day with a skipper and a swim in open water. Ferries are timed and private transfers meet them; where the wind or the schedule is unkind, a helicopter or a flight replaces the crossing.

Who it suits and when

Honeymoons, anniversaries and couples who want the sea and good food. May, June, September and early October are ideal; July and August are hot, busy and windy in the Cyclades.
