Greece villas
A whitewashed house, a boat for the day, and dinners by the water.
One island done properly, or two connected by a private boat. The houses are the point: open to the wind and a short walk from the water.
We avoid the busiest harbours in August and look to the quieter Cyclades and the Peloponnese.
Where we go
The quieter Cyclades, the Ionian islands, the Peloponnese coast and Crete's south and west, where a house with a pool and a view is still a short walk from a taverna and a beach. We avoid the busiest harbours in August and know which islands keep their character in high season.
How the week runs
One island done properly, or two connected by a private boat. The house is the base; a boat for a day or a week, a cook for the evenings you want, a guide for the archaeology, and the rest spent swimming. Sailing between islands in a crewed yacht is the other version of the same week.
Who it suits and when
Families, groups and multi-generational parties who want a house rather than a hotel, and couples who want quiet. Late May to June and September to early October are ideal; July and August are hot and busy on the famous islands, and we steer towards the quieter ones.
