Morocco: medina, Atlas, desert
A riad, a kasbah, and a night under the stars.

Morocco · Family holidays
Marrakech, the Atlas and a night in the desert, with pools, camels and distances kept short.
Morocco is a natural first adventure for children: a medina to get lost in, mountains an hour away, and dunes a day beyond. The flight is short and the contrasts are large.
Tell us the ages and the half term. We plan the drives around them.
A riad with a pool in Marrakech, a kasbah in the High Atlas for walks to Berber villages and mule rides, and a private desert camp in the Sahara reached by road over the pass or by a short flight. Essaouira adds a few gentle nights by the sea.
Two or three nights in each place. Mornings out with a guide before the heat, afternoons at the pool, dinners early enough for the children. The desert night is the highlight: camels at sunset, a fire, and more stars than most children have seen.
Families with children from about five; teenagers who want the desert. Easter, autumn half term and February are ideal; July and August are too hot for the south.
