Peru: the Sacred Valley
Acclimatise low, climb slowly, and see Machu Picchu before the crowds.

Peru · Couples and honeymoons
The Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu by train and Cusco, in small hotels with a private guide, at a gentle pace.
Peru for two is best taken slowly: a few nights in the Sacred Valley to settle into the altitude, the train to Machu Picchu, Cusco for its colonial streets, and a second region if there is time. The hotels are small and the guiding is excellent.
Tell us how many nights and whether the Amazon or the coast belongs in the plan. Ten to twelve is right.
The Sacred Valley for ruins, markets and walks; a night at the foot of Machu Picchu for an early entry; Cusco for two or three nights; then the Amazon, Lake Titicaca or Arequipa and the Colca Canyon. Lima for the food at either end.
A private guide and driver throughout, with mornings for the sites and afternoons free. A picnic in the ruins, a cooking class in Cusco, a horse ride in the valley. The train to Machu Picchu is part of the pleasure.
Honeymoons, anniversaries and couples who want culture and landscape at a gentle pace. April to October is driest; the shoulder months of April, May, September and October are quieter.
