Mara conservancy camp

A tented camp on a private conservancy bordering the Mara.

A small tented camp on a private Mara conservancy. Private vehicle, off-road driving, and no other camps in sight.

Eight to ten tents, a mess tent with a fire, and a conservancy where vehicle numbers are capped. The camp is the base for a classic Kenya safari and suits couples and small groups.

July to October for the migration; January to March for clear skies and fewer vehicles. April and May are green and quiet.

Why we like it

What makes Mara conservancy camp work

  • Vehicle numbers on the conservancy are capped, so a sighting is rarely shared with more than one other car.
  • Off-road driving and night drives are permitted, which the national reserve does not allow.
  • Small enough that the guide you have on day one is the guide you have on day five.

Good to know

Before you decide

  • Best from July to October and January to March; April and May are green and quiet.
  • Reached by scheduled light aircraft from Nairobi, around forty-five minutes.
  • Tents have en-suite bathrooms and hot water; there is no air conditioning and little need for it.
