Patagonia is one of the great walking landscapes, and Argentina's side of it is the more varied: the granite towers of El Chaltén, the Perito Moreno glacier, the lakes around Bariloche and estancias where the horses are the point. The distances are large; we fly them.
Tell us how many nights and how hard the party wants to walk. Twelve to sixteen covers Patagonia and one more region.
Where we go
El Chaltén for the day walks under Fitz Roy, El Calafate for the glacier and an estancia, the Lake District for gentler trails and good lodges. Iguazú or Mendoza for a complete change at the end.
How the week runs
Walks are placed in the middle of the trip when the party is fittest; estancia days with horses and asados break them up. A private guide throughout, flights between regions and lodges with views and fires.
Who it suits and when
Walkers, riders and families with teenagers. November to March, with December to February the most settled for trekking; April brings autumn colour and quiet trails.
