Italy for two

A few nights in a city, a few by the sea, and the tables booked.

For two, Italy is a city and a coast. Rome or Florence with a guide for a day, then the Amalfi Coast or a Tuscan hill town with the mornings open.

We book the tables and the one or two guided days. The rest is yours.

Where we go

The lakes for gardens and ferries; Venice early and late in the day; the Amalfi Coast for terraces above the sea; Rome and Florence for art and food; a hilltop house in Umbria or Tuscany with nobody else in it. The best Italian trips for two combine a city with a slower place.

How the week runs

Two or three stops in ten nights, connected by train or private driver. Private guides for the museums and churches that need them; the rest left to wandering. Dinner is the structure of the day and we book the tables that are worth booking. A boat day, a wine day and a day with nothing planned.

Who it suits and when

Honeymoons, anniversaries and couples who want food, art and landscape in equal measure. April to June and September to October are the sweet spots; winter suits the cities and the lakes in a quieter mood.

Best time
May, June, and September for warm weather without the August crowds. July and August for the sea.
Suits
