Italy for families

A villa week with a pool, day trips that end by lunchtime, and food every child will eat.

Italy is the easiest family holiday in Europe to make exceptional. A villa with a pool gives the children a base; a driver and a guide give the parents a way to see things without a convoy. The food does the rest.

Tell us the ages, the dates and whether you want sea or countryside. Both is possible with ten nights.

Where we go

A villa in Tuscany, Umbria or Puglia for a week, or on the Amalfi coast for a trip built around the sea. Rome or Florence for two or three nights at the start, with a guide who turns the Colosseum or the Uffizi into a treasure hunt.

How the week runs

A cook on some evenings, a driver for day trips, and a pattern of mornings out and afternoons in the pool. A pasta-making lesson, a boat day, a cycling route through the vines or a gelato tour give each day a shape without filling it.

Who it suits and when

Families with children of any age and multi-generational groups. June and September for warm sea and quieter towns; July and August for the long school holidays, with the heat planned around.

Best time
May, June, and September for warm weather without the August crowds. July and August for the sea.
Suits
Families with children of mixed ages · Grandparents travelling with the whole family · First long-haul trips with young children
