Tanzania: crater and plains
One morning in the crater, a week with the herds.

Tanzania · Couples and honeymoons
The crater, a mobile camp on the plains and a Zanzibar finish, with a private vehicle throughout.
Tanzania is the safari of scale: the crater floor, the Serengeti's horizon and the herds moving across it. For a couple it pairs drama with privacy, especially in a mobile camp that follows the migration and takes a handful of guests.
Tell us the month, because it decides where the herds are, and whether the trip should end on the coast.
Two nights at the crater rim, four or five in the Serengeti in a camp placed for the season, then three or four on Zanzibar or a smaller island. The Mahale Mountains for chimpanzees suit a longer trip for a couple who has done the classic routes.
A private vehicle and guide for the safari, long days out with a picnic when the herds are moving, and evenings by the fire. Flights link the crater, the plains and the coast. On the island, nothing is planned.
Honeymoons, anniversaries and couples who want the big landscape. December to March for calving in the south; July to October for the river crossings in the north; June and November for quieter camps and good value.
