Every journey on this site shows a guide price per person. It is a planning figure based on two people travelling in a good season, staying in the kind of places described in the itinerary. It is not a quote, and we would rather explain exactly how it is built than leave you to guess.

What the figure includes

The accommodation named in the itinerary, the private guiding and vehicles described, the internal flights and transfers between stays, and the meals and activities that are part of each stay. Where a camp is fully inclusive, that is reflected; where a city hotel is bed and breakfast, that is too.

What it leaves out

International flights, visas, travel insurance, tips, and the things that vary wildly by person: spa treatments, wine, a helicopter transfer instead of a car. These are listed in the proposal so nothing arrives as a surprise, but they are not in the guide figure because they would make it less accurate for most people rather than more.

Why it moves

The month is the biggest factor. The same safari camp can cost a third more in August than in March. Party size is next: families and groups usually pay less per person because houses, vehicles, and guides are shared. The specific camps or villas matter: a conservancy camp and a national-park lodge can be a long way apart in price and in experience. Finally, flights: a light-aircraft hop versus a long drive changes both the cost and the shape of the day.

Why we show it at all

Because it is more honest than hiding it. A guide price tells you whether a journey is in the right range before you spend time on a conversation, and it tells us that we are talking about the same kind of trip. Plenty of operators publish nothing and discover the mismatch two weeks in. We would rather you knew at the start.

From guide price to proposal

The proposal gives you the real number, itemised: each stay, each transfer, each guide, with the season and party size applied. You can see what each change costs. Nothing is held until you accept it, and nothing is charged until it is held. If the number is wrong for you, say so; there is almost always a version of the same journey at a different figure.
