South Africa: Cape and bush

A ten-night private South Africa holiday: a Cape Town villa, the winelands by private driver, and four nights at a Sabi Sand lodge.

The easiest long-haul family trip we know. Cape Town has a beach, a mountain, and a villa with a pool; the winelands are a day by private driver; the Sabi Sand is two hours by air and the most reliable leopard viewing in Africa.

The malaria-free alternative swaps the Sabi Sand for the Eastern Cape or Madikwe when children are young.

Highlights

  • Private villa in Cape Town with a pool
  • Winelands by private driver
  • Four nights in a private reserve
  • Malaria-free alternative for young families

Questions about this journey

Which order?

Cape Town first to settle in, bush second for the drama, two quiet nights to finish.

When is the best time?

October to April for the Cape summer; May to September for the best game viewing in the bush. Autumn and spring give a fair balance of both.

Can we add the Garden Route or the winelands?

Yes. Two or three nights in the winelands fits easily between the Cape and the bush, and the Garden Route works as a self-drive extension.
