June to September 2027
Summer is when most families can travel together, and it is when the luxury lines put their best ships in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. It is also the season where planning late costs the most: not usually in price, but in choice. Connecting suites, the quieter midship cabins and the sailings that line up with school holidays are the first to go on every line we work with.
This page is our planning view for summer 2027. It is not a list of departures; it is where we would start, and why. Tell us who is travelling and we will narrow it to two or three sailings.
Planning for summer 2027?
Tell us who's travelling and roughly when. We'll come back with the two or three sailings we'd actually consider, a cabin plan and a planning figure for the whole party.
Start planningWhy plan now
Not manufactured urgency: these are the things that genuinely narrow your options the later we start.
Connecting suites are limited on every luxury ship and are the first cabins to sell on school-holiday sailings.
Peak Mediterranean departures in late July and August are often planned nine to twelve months ahead by the families we work with.
Flights for a party of six or more are easier and usually cheaper to arrange together when there is still a choice of departure times.
Shifting by a week into early July or September typically improves both price and crowds; the earlier we talk, the more of those options remain.
Where we'd look

The easiest great cruise there is: short flights, famous ports, and a ship for every kind of family.

Small ships, island overnights, and a late season that runs into October.

Venice, Dubrovnik and Kotor in a week, on ships small enough for the old harbours.

No long flight, dramatic scenery from your terrace, and a season made for grandparents.

Glaciers, whales and bears from a small ship, with a pre-cruise stop in Vancouver.

Copenhagen, Stockholm, Tallinn and Helsinki in a week, with culture the whole way.
Connecting suites, different activity levels, dining that works for everyone, and transfers that suit grandparents and toddlers alike. The best family suites go first, so start early.
Cruise ideas
Planning figures per person, not quotes. Final price depends on sailing date, suite and availability.

Barcelona to Rome with connecting suites, a real kids' programme and nobody dressing for dinner.

Athens round trip with excursions, drinks, speciality dining and flights in the fare.

A small French ship, a summer children's programme and harbours only yachts can use.

No flight, a small sociable ship, and scenery from the veranda from breakfast to midnight.

Glaciers and whales with excursions included, plus Vancouver and the Rocky Mountaineer for a 14-night family journey.

Nice to Rome by yacht, with a marina off the stern and a children's programme that makes it work for families.
Cruise lines
Honest ratings on every line page, including who each one isn't for.

Modern, relaxed, generous with space, and genuinely happy to see children.

The most inclusive fare at sea, on all-suite ships that take elegance seriously.

Butler-served suites, serious destinations, and one of the strongest expedition fleets afloat.

Small, sociable, quietly luxurious ships, with a sister expedition fleet.

Hotel-style luxury on yachts of roughly 300 to 450 guests, with a surprisingly warm welcome for children.
How it works
No obligation. No pressure. Just a conversation about what would work for your party.
Two to five minutes online, or a call. Who's travelling, roughly when, and what matters most.
A cruise specialist talks it through: the party, the occasion, the budget, and anything that worries you.
Not forty options. Two or three we'd actually recommend, with the reasons, and the ones we'd avoid for you.
Cruise, suites, flights, hotels before and after, transfers, excursions, dining and any celebration on board.
Nothing is booked until you're happy with the plan and the price.
Documents, confirmations, requests to the ship, and one person to call before and during the voyage.
Who is travelling?

Ships that genuinely welcome children, suites that connect, and a specialist who has checked the kids' club runs on your dates.

Grandparents, parents, teenagers and small children on one ship, with the suites, pacing and excursions planned around all of them.

Yachts, small elegant ships and ambitious itineraries for two, with flights, hotels and the detail handled.
Good to know
For school-holiday sailings with more than one cabin, we would be planning in autumn 2026 and holding cabins by early 2027. For a couple with flexible dates, spring 2027 still leaves good choice on most itineraries.
The Mediterranean for swimming, warm evenings and children; the Norwegian Fjords and Baltic for scenery, cooler weather and grandparents who dislike heat. Several families we plan for split the difference with the Adriatic in June or September.
It can be in the ports. On the ship it is comfortable. We plan port days around early starts and shaded, short excursions, or steer parties with older travellers towards early July or September.
Yes. Flights for the whole party, a hotel the night before embarkation, transfers between airport, hotel and ship, and anything you want to add at the other end.
Other dates

The month most families have to travel. Here is how we make it work, and the ships we would choose.

Six weeks, one window, the whole family. The ships that make a summer-holiday cruise feel like a holiday for the parents too.

The one week a year everyone can get away. Spend it somewhere warm, with the cooking done by someone else.

A week of warm sea, quieter ports and lower prices than summer. One of the best weeks of the year to cruise with children.
Don't spend thirty hours comparing forty ships, cabins, dates, flights and hotels. Give us five minutes and we'll narrow it down to what is worth considering.
