Mediterranean 2027
The Riviera, Italy, the Greek Islands and the Adriatic on the ships we would actually choose for 2027.

April to October 2027
The Mediterranean is where the luxury lines concentrate their best ships from spring to autumn, and where the differences between those ships matter most. A small yacht for a couple who want Portofino and St-Tropez; a mid-sized ship with a children's programme for a family in August; a calm, all-inclusive ship for grandparents who want Venice and Dubrovnik without a crowd.
For 2027 we would be looking at the Western Mediterranean and Riviera in June and September, the Greek Islands in July and early September, and the Adriatic in May, June and September. Tell us the month and the party and we will narrow it from there.

Start planningWhy plan now
Not manufactured urgency: these are the things that genuinely narrow your options the later we start.
Peak-season Mediterranean sailings on the luxury lines are planned nine to twelve months ahead by most of the families we work with.
The small-yacht lines carry very few guests, so a specific sailing for a couple can sell out long before the summer.
Connecting suites on family-friendly Mediterranean sailings are limited and go first.
Pre-cruise nights in Barcelona, Rome, Venice and Athens are best held alongside the cabins.
Where we'd look

The easiest great cruise there is: short flights, famous ports, and a ship for every kind of family.

Small ships, island overnights, and a late season that runs into October.

Venice, Dubrovnik and Kotor in a week, on ships small enough for the old harbours.
Connecting suites, different activity levels, dining that works for everyone, and transfers that suit grandparents and toddlers alike. The best family suites go first, so start early.
Cruise ideas
Planning figures per person, not quotes. Final price depends on sailing date, suite and availability.

Barcelona to Rome with connecting suites, a real kids' programme and nobody dressing for dinner.

Nice to Rome by yacht, with a marina off the stern and a children's programme that makes it work for families.

Athens round trip with excursions, drinks, speciality dining and flights in the fare.

Silversea's brightest ship through Croatia, Montenegro and the Ionian, with a butler in every suite.

Portugal, Andalusia and the Spanish coast with the best restaurants at sea, at an upper-premium price.

A small French ship, a summer children's programme and harbours only yachts can use.
Cruise lines
Honest ratings on every line page, including who each one isn't for.

Modern, relaxed, generous with space, and genuinely happy to see children.

Hotel-style luxury on yachts of roughly 300 to 450 guests, with a surprisingly warm welcome for children.

Butler-served suites, serious destinations, and one of the strongest expedition fleets afloat.

The most inclusive fare at sea, on all-suite ships that take elegance seriously.

Small, sociable, quietly luxurious ships, with a sister expedition fleet.

Food-led, country-club casual ships of around 670 to 1,200 guests at an accessible luxury price.
How it works
No obligation. No pressure. Just a conversation about what would work for your party.
Two to five minutes online, or a call. Who's travelling, roughly when, and what matters most.
A cruise specialist talks it through: the party, the occasion, the budget, and anything that worries you.
Not forty options. Two or three we'd actually recommend, with the reasons, and the ones we'd avoid for you.
Cruise, suites, flights, hotels before and after, transfers, excursions, dining and any celebration on board.
Nothing is booked until you're happy with the plan and the price.
Documents, confirmations, requests to the ship, and one person to call before and during the voyage.
Who is travelling?

Yachts, small elegant ships and ambitious itineraries for two, with flights, hotels and the detail handled.

Ships that genuinely welcome children, suites that connect, and a specialist who has checked the kids' club runs on your dates.

Grandparents, parents, teenagers and small children on one ship, with the suites, pacing and excursions planned around all of them.

Whether you are hosting the grandchildren or travelling as a couple, a specialist who understands what a good week at sea looks like at this stage of life.
Good to know
For couples, May, June and September: warm, less crowded, with the ports at their best. For families, July and August by necessity, planned around the heat. For grandparents, we lean towards late May, June and September.
It depends entirely on who is travelling. Our cruise-line pages rate each line for families, grandparents, couples, food and formality, and say who each line is not for.
Our cruise ideas carry a planning figure per person. Seven nights on a luxury ship in the Mediterranean generally starts in the low thousands of pounds per person before flights and sits well above that for the yacht lines and the best suites. We confirm a figure for your party before anything is held.
Other dates

The Mediterranean, the Greek Islands, the Fjords and Alaska — planned now, while the suites that suit a family are still open.

The month most families have to travel. Here is how we make it work, and the ships we would choose.

Six weeks, one window, the whole family. The ships that make a summer-holiday cruise feel like a holiday for the parents too.

The one week a year everyone can get away. Spend it somewhere warm, with the cooking done by someone else.
Don't spend thirty hours comparing forty ships, cabins, dates, flights and hotels. Give us five minutes and we'll narrow it down to what is worth considering.
