Overview

Scenic Eclipse entered service in 2019 and carries around 228 guests in all-suite, all-veranda accommodation. It carries two helicopters and a submarine, ten dining venues and an inclusive fare that covers nearly everything on board.

Eclipse is a polar-class discovery yacht with a very high staff ratio, butlers for every suite, a large spa and the toys that make expedition days different: helicopter flightseeing and a submersible, weather and permits allowing.

It suits adults who want expedition with nothing to pay on board and the means to go further. Children are not well served and we say so.

Top of the market per night with almost everything included; helicopter and submarine excursions cost extra and depend on conditions. Planning figures on each sailing page.

On board

Suites, cabins, dining and evenings on Scenic Eclipse

In our words, from the questions we are asked most. Suite names are the line's; which one we would book is ours.

Suites
Veranda suites are the core and large; Deluxe Veranda, Spa and Panorama suites add space; the Owner's Penthouse at the top.
Cabins we would book
A Veranda suite on a higher deck midship; a Spa suite for the private spa deck access.
Dining
Ten venues for 228 guests including Elements, Koko's pan-Asian, Lumière French and a chef's table; all included with premium drinks.
Entertainment
Expedition lectures and recaps, live music, the spa. The helicopters and submarine are the show.

Children, grandparents, mobility

Scenic Eclipse for the whole family

Three honest notes: what the ship does for children, what it does for grandparents, and what it asks of anyone with limited mobility.

Children
No children's club and no provision of any kind; not a ship for children.
Grandparents
Butlers, a stable ship and a spa worth the fare; Zodiac boarding and helicopter steps need agility, which we discuss honestly.
Accessibility
A few accessible suites; expedition landings limit who can go ashore. We are direct about fit.

Planning for the whole family?

Connecting suites, different activity levels, dining that works for everyone, and transfers that suit grandparents and toddlers alike. The best family suites go first, so start early.

Our promise

We will say no.

We do not recommend a cruise because it is expensive, and we do not put people on the wrong ship. If Scenic Eclipse is not right for your party, we will tell you and suggest the one that is, even if it costs less or is sold by someone else. We are an advisor, not a booking engine.
