Vista

Oceania's newest ship: the food-led, country-club alternative to all-suite luxury.

Overview

Vista entered service in 2023 and carries around 1,200 guests, the largest ship we sell. It is Oceania's newest and best: every stateroom with a veranda, a dozen places to eat, a culinary center and a relaxed, country-club tone at a fare below the luxury lines.

Vista is the first Allura-class ship and the one that moved Oceania up a notch: larger staterooms, a bright palette, the Grand Dining Room, Polo Grill, Toscana, Red Ginger, Ember and Aquamar Kitchen, and hands-on cooking classes in the Culinary Center.

It suits couples and grandparents who care about food more than formality, want many dining choices and are happy on a larger ship with no fixed seatings and no gala nights.

Price

What Vista costs

Premium rather than luxury: well below Regent and Silversea per person, with specialty dining included and drinks and excursions as options. Planning figures on each sailing page.

The fare

The Vista sailings we would shortlist run from about $4,400 per person for 10 nights, depending on ship, suite, season and itinerary.

What that includes

Specialty dining; Wi-Fi; Soft drinks and specialty coffees; Optional more-inclusive fares. Anything not on that list, we price alongside the fare so there is no surprise on board.

Around the ship

Flights, hotel nights before and after, private transfers and any excursions outside the fare sit on top. Your proposal sets out the cruise fare and additional costs so you can compare the full trip.

On board

Suites, cabins, dining and evenings on Vista

In our words, from the questions we are asked most. Suite names are the line's; which one we would book is ours.

Suites
Veranda and Concierge Veranda staterooms are the core; Penthouse Suites add space and a butler; Oceania and Vista Suites at the top.
Cabins we would book
A Concierge Veranda midship on Deck 9 or 10 for the lounge and earlier reservations; a Penthouse Suite for a butler and more space.
Dining
The Grand Dining Room, Polo Grill, Toscana, Red Ginger, Ember, Aquamar Kitchen, the Terrace Café and the Culinary Center classes; specialty dining included.
Entertainment
A theater with modest shows, live music, lectures, a casino, cooking classes and the Artist Loft. Dinner is the evening.

Children, grandparents, mobility

Vista for the whole family

Three honest notes: what the ship does for children, what it does for grandparents, and what it asks of anyone with limited mobility.

Children
No club; children are welcome but there is little for them. Teenagers who like food manage.
Grandparents
Easy, unhurried and food-led, with a broad choice of excursions and many staterooms at a sensible fare. A good first cruise for a couple who dislike formality.
Accessibility
Accessible staterooms in several categories; a larger ship so most calls are alongside. We confirm tender ports.

Planning for the whole family?

Connecting suites, different activity levels, dining that works for everyone, and transfers that suit grandparents and toddlers alike. The best family suites go first, so start early.

Where it sails

Where Vista goes

The regions this ship sails as far as we know; the itinerary confirms the ports and the season.

Positano stacked above the sea on the Amalfi coast
Late May to June and September to early October. July and August for school vacations, booked well ahead.

Mediterranean

The easiest great cruise there is: short flights, famous ports, and a ship for every kind of family.

Sunset over the whitewashed houses of Oia, Santorini
June and September are ideal; July and August are hot and busy; October still swims.

Greek Islands

Small ships, island overnights, and a late season that runs into October.

Friendship Beach on Bequia in the Grenadines, palms over a quiet bay
December to April. Christmas and New Year sailings book 12 months ahead.

Caribbean

Winter sun for the whole family, on ships that make Christmas and half-term easy.

The walled old town of Dubrovnik and its harbour from above
May to June and September; July and August are warm and busy.

Adriatic & Croatia

Venice, Dubrovnik and Kotor in a week, on ships small enough for the old harbors.

Our promise

We will say no.

We do not recommend a cruise because it is expensive, and we do not put people on the wrong ship. If Vista is not right for your party, we will tell you and suggest the one that is, even if it costs less or is sold by someone else. We are an advisor, not a booking engine.

Vista FAQs

Is Oceania luxury?

Premium with luxury-level food: not all-suite, no butlers below Penthouse, drinks and excursions optional. For a couple who care about dinner and dislike formality it is often the right answer, and we say so.
