Silversea

Mid-size shiparound 730 guestsEntered service 2024

Silver Ray

Silver Nova's sister, a year newer, same open design.

Overview

Silver Ray entered service in 2024 as the second Nova-class ship: the same asymmetric design, side pool, eight restaurants and butler service in every suite.

Ray is Nova's twin in every way that matters to a guest. The suite categories, restaurants, Dusk Bar and S.A.L.T. program are the same; the art and a few finishes differ.

We plan the two as one ship: whichever has the itinerary and date the party wants. Ray often takes the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean or South America in winter.

What Silver Ray costs

The same upper-luxury position as Nova. Planning figures on each sailing page.

The fare

The Silversea sailings we would shortlist run from about $8,300 to $17,600 per person for 9 to 10 nights, depending on ship, suite, season and itinerary.

What that includes

Butler service in every suite; Drinks and dining; Gratuities and Wi-Fi; Door-to-door option with flights and transfers; Expedition activities on expedition ships. Anything not on that list, we price alongside the fare so there is no surprise on board.

Around the ship

Flights, hotel nights before and after, private transfers and any excursions outside the fare sit on top. Your proposal sets out the cruise fare and additional costs so you can compare the full trip.

Cabins we would book
A Deluxe Veranda suite midship on Deck 7 or 8 for most couples; a Premium Medallion suite for a separate living area.
Dining
Eight venues as on Nova, including the Marquee, S.A.L.T. Kitchen and Kaiseki; all included except La Dame.
Entertainment
Live music in the lounges, a small theater, the Dusk Bar at sunset, S.A.L.T. Lab cooking classes. Dinner-led evenings.

Children, grandparents, mobility

Silver Ray for the whole family

Three honest notes: what the ship does for children, what it does for grandparents, and what it asks of anyone with limited mobility.

Children
No club on most sailings; teenagers with adult families manage well.
Grandparents
Butlers, an easy ship to walk and a calm pace. As good as Nova for a couple in their sixties and seventies.
Accessibility
A number of accessible suites across categories, confirmed with the line before anything is held; some tender ports.

Planning for the whole family?

Connecting suites, different activity levels, dining that works for everyone, and transfers that suit grandparents and toddlers alike. The best family suites go first, so start early.

We do not yet hold a licensed photograph of Silver Ray itself, so there is no picture of it here: we never show a sister ship in its place.

Our promise

We will say no.

We do not recommend a cruise because it is expensive, and we do not put people on the wrong ship. If Silver Ray is not right for your party, we will tell you and suggest the one that is, even if it costs less or is sold by someone else. We are an advisor, not a booking engine.
